Watch General Secretary John Hewko talk polio with Forbes
India – once considered the global epicenter for polio – celebrated three years in January since its last case of the crippling disease. As a result, the World Health Organization declared its 11-country Southeast Asia region polio-free, a momentous achievement signaling we are closer than ever to eliminating polio once and for all.
General Secretary John Hewko joined Rotary member Devin Thorpe last week in a live Forbes.com interview to discuss how we will eradicate polio in the three countries where it still exists: Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Pakistan.
Watch the interview to learn how polio was eradicated in India, and how our efforts to eliminate the disease are laying the groundwork for tackling other global public health challenges. Hewko also shares simple ways you can support Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio and protect children everywhere.
