Rotary's financials demonstrate our dedication to stewardship and sustainability. As a global organization operating in over 200 countries and geographical areas and in 29 currencies, Rotary takes stewardship of its funds very seriously.

Stewardship begins as funds are received around the world. It continues through our prudent investment practices until funds are spent to provide life-changing and sustainable grants, as well as programs and services for members. All along the way, Rotary complies with regulatory requirements in all the jurisdictions in which we operate.

Financial reports

We publish our financial reports shortly after they're filed. The annual report and audited financial statements are posted in the second quarter of Rotary's fiscal year, October-December. Our federal tax returns are posted in the third quarter, January-March.

Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International are separate entities with distinct reporting requirements. Under United States tax law, they are both tax-exempt organizations. As the sole corporate member of The Rotary Foundation, Rotary International is required to include the Foundation's financial activity in its own financial statements. The Rotary Foundation also publishes separate financial statements covering only its activities.

Financial structure

The Rotary Foundation is organized as a public charity operated exclusively for charitable purposes and governed by a Board of Trustees. The operations of Rotary International, a member organization, are overseen by its Board of Directors.

The headquarters of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation are in Evanston, Illinois, USA. We have associate foundations in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

Our commitment to transparency

Being financially responsible means having nothing to hide. This commitment has earned us a top rating of four stars from Charity Navigator, the largest and most utilized independent evaluator of nonprofits in the United States.
