Past RI Director Tempelaars dies

Constant A.G.M. "Stan" Tempelaars, who served as 2003-05 RI director, died on 1 August.
A Rotarian since 1971, Tempelaars was a member of the Rotary Club of Vianen-Vreeswijk, The Netherlands. In addition to serving as RI director, he was a district governor in 1994-95 and a committee and task force member and chair.
Tempelaars, a physicist, was director of the Institute of Sonology at Utrecht University and the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague. He was also chair of the national Audio Engineering Society, a board member of Cals College Nieuwegein, and a member of the advisory committee for an arts organization in The Hague.
Tempelaars was chair of the Council of the Roman Catholic Parish of Nieuwegein.
A researcher and teacher in the field of sonology, the science of musical sounds, Tempelaars published a number of scientific papers and two books on the subject.
A funeral service will be held on 5 August at the Emmaus Church, Merelplein 2, NL3435 CC Nieuwegein. Condolences may be sent to his wife, Thea, at Klaverkamp 11, Nieuwegein, 3433 AH, The Netherlands.
