RI President John Kenny encourages Rotarians to celebrate the progress toward ending polio and help with the final push at a special benefit performance 2 December in New York. Rotary International will team up with violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman and the world-renowned New York Philharmonic to present the Concert to End Polio supporting the global effort to eradicate this disease.

"Since Rotary and its partners started the campaign against polio in 1985, the number of polio cases has been reduced by more than 99 percent," says Kenny. "Despite tremendous progress, the disease still cripples children in parts of Africa and South Asia. We are at the final 1 percent, which is why it's so important to generate the funding needed to finish the job."
