| Club Name | | | Country | USA | District | 6150 | | Training Audience | District level | | Type of training | Train the trainer | | Best Practice | We used a Web-based meeting tool to hold a train-the-trainer session in our district, for our training committee members, in December 2004. Since we couldn't find a time our district training committee could meet face to face, we opted for this alternative.
| | Resources | We used GoToMeeting (http://www.GoToMeeting.com) to allow participants from across the district to view a PowerPoint presentation while audio communication was handled with a telephone conference call. Our agenda was based on one used during the 2004 Train-the-Trainer session at Zone Institute (Zones 29-30) and the District Trainer's Manual (246-EN). We created a PowerPoint file (available on our district Web site) to guide the discussion and for graphics to support the discussion. Copies of all materials were e-mailed to participants several days in advance of the meeting and each participant was encouraged to print these prior to the meeting. We scheduled two 2-hour sessions, one before and one after lunch, for a total of 4 hours of training and discussion.
| | Results | This Web-based meeting tool is most effective for groups that have first met face-to-face one or more times. We will use Web-based training in the future for addressing a more limited scope of topics or for presenting new issues as they arise. We found Web-based training for Rotary leaders to be most effective when combined with traditional methods of training.

| Club Name | | | Country | Australia | District | 9790 | | Training Audience | District level | | Type of training | Leadership Development, Rotary Info, Train the trainer, Incoming Officer | | Best Practice | Pre-PETS (PREPS) Train-the-trainer
We trained our district's assistant governors to be training leaders at our presidents-elect training seminar (PETS). The training consisted of facilitated discussion, using RI manuals, and examining our district's goals and issues. We prepared the PETS training leaders to answer questions about our district to club-level Rotarians.
| | Resources | Presidents-elect Training Seminar Leaders' Guide; Club Officer's Kit - Club Committee Manual, Club President's Manual, Club Secretary's Manual; handouts; PowerPoint presentation used to facilitate discussion
| | Results | Because of the handouts and discussions at our PREPS, we had 60 presidents-elect out of 60 attend PETS. All the presidents-elect and club officers stated that the training was the best ever. Some of our assistant governors who were training leaders stated that if they would have had this training for their year as president, they would have been more prepared for their role.
