ga Khan University, an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network, is focused on increasing the number and skills set of professionals in the developing world by providing access to opportunities in higher education and research. The following packaged global grants, developed in conjunction with Aga Khan University (AKU), are available to Future Vision pilot districts only during 2012-13.

Training Health Educators
Description: Rotarian-led vocational training teams will design and provide training programs that will enhance the clinical and administrative skills of university-level nursing faculty from local academic institutions. The teams will also work with local Rotarians and AKU to coordinate and implement a service project that connects the training to existing clinics or medical programs.
Area of focus: Maternal and child health
Project countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda
Award amount: US$20,000-$30,000 per vocational training team. Up to three grants will be awarded annually.
How to apply (pilot districts only):
- Read the Getting Started document and the terms and conditions (pilot versions) .
- Complete the general team application (pilot version) .
- Complete the team member application (pilot version) for each member of the team (including the team leader).
- Upload the general team application and the team member applications to the Future Vision pilot site in Member Access at least 90 days before proposed departure date.
Nursing Scholarships
Description: Students will apply for scholarships to study nursing and midwifery at the Aga Khan University’s School of Nursing programs at their campuses in East Africa. Rotarians in District 9200 will select the scholarship recipients and mentor the students throughout the two-year program.
Area of focus: Maternal and child health
Project countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda
Award amount: US$11,000 average cost for tuition and all related expenses per student for the two-year program
Note: District 9200 (which encompasses the three project countries) will manage the packaged global grant.
