Fast Facts about Rotary and Route 66
The first Rotary club, RotaryOne, Chicago, Illinois, USA, founded by Paul Harris and friends, is almost 2,500 miles up Route 66 to the 2008 RI Convention in Los Angeles.
Lebanon, Missouri, USA, is home of a Route 66 museum. The Rotary Club of Lebanon donated the funds and volunteered to help set the museum up. Rotarian Cathy Dame is the director of the museum.
Sixty miles south of Route 66 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, USA, is the birthplace of Herbert Taylor, the author of Rotary’s Four-Way Test.
Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California, USA, just outside of the 2008 RI Convention host city limits, is the official end of Route 66.
