S ervice Above Self takes many forms. In the case of Past District Governor Min Dong Ahn, it took the form of extreme sacrifice. While he was working on an international service project, an accident changed his life forever.

In August 2005, Ahn was in Mongolia to assist with Keep Mongolia Green, a Matching Grant project that plants windbreak forests in and around the vast Gobi Desert. He and other district governors had traveled from Korea to help find a suitable location for the project's second phase.

The vehicle Ahn was riding in blew a tire and rolled over, leaving him paralyzed in the lower half of his body. Though the accident has forced him to cope with grueling challenges and an uncertain future, it hasn't diminished his loyalty to the project or his love for Rotary.

See more of the story in the video above. A full report on Keep Mongolia Green is featured in volume 4, issue 3, of RVM : The Rotarian Video Magazine , available now .
