As you head into the new Rotary year, this issue of Interactive is devoted to looking back at the unforgettable events just behind you. Rotarians led the way in many respects, from aiding disaster victims, to teaching leadership skills to youth, to administering hundreds of drops of polio vaccine. It’s been a remarkable year, so take a moment to remember the people, places, and projects that made all the difference.

Fast facts about the Rotary year

  • Dollars and some good financial sense are why the Rotary year starts 1 July. The secretary and treasurer needed more time to review the books before the calendar year ended, so RI’s auditors recommended that the organization close its year on 30 June.
  • May 2007 marked 20 years since women were legally admitted into U.S. Rotary clubs.
