Serving others: The world’s first service club, the Rotary Club of Chicago, was formed on 23 February 1905 by Paul P. Harris.
Fighting polio: Rotary International began polio eradication efforts in 1985. At that time, polio paralyzed about 1,000 children daily. Fighting polio is RI’s top strategic goal .

Recruiting new members: In 2004-05, RI programs produced more than 100,000 alumni. According to a recent report on recruiting alumni as Rotarians , 84 percent of current program participants and 66 percent of program alumni are interested in joining Rotary.
