We asked district governors-elect, “What does the 2008-09 RI theme, Make Dreams Real, mean to you and your district?”

Ian McGlashan, District 9250 (Rotary Club of Potgietersrus, South Africa)

"We are going outside of the box. The scope of what we can accomplish is wide open. It's wonderful we are focusing on children. The [theme] logo shows so much compassion."

Pablito Parilla, District 3860 (Rotary Club of Matina Davao, Davao City, Philippines)

"It means we are renewing our commitment to children. We should know how to reduce, even eliminate, the child mortality rate."

Rupert Ross, District 7020 (Rotary Club of St. Croix West, Virgin Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands)

"It gives our nation the opportunity to focus on impacting children's health. My district will utilize local and national institutions to help accomplish this."

Nayantara Palchoudhuri, District 3291 (Rotary Club of Calcutta-Inner City, West Bengal, India)

"The theme lets us dream for our next generation. It's a wonderful goal."

Janice Teetsell, District 7470 (Rotary Club of South Orange, New Jersey, USA)

"I've been floating on air since the theme was announced. I'm thrilled that we're talking about children. People outside Rotary can identify with this, giving us a great opportunity to help children in our communities, as well as around the world."
