Make plans to attend club-sponsored clean water summit in Haiti

Find out how your Rotary club can help work for clean water worldwide during a summit 14-15 December in Petion-Ville, Haiti. The international conference, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Petion-Ville, will offer practical tips and new ideas to Rotarians and other volunteers interested in working on water projects.

Charles Adams, a member of the Rotary Club of Glens Falls, New York, USA, who has a passion for water projects, says the conference will focus on the main challenges Rotarians face when executing water projects.

“Rotarians should come away knowing what components are required to make a water project sustainable and what kinds of project designs offer the best chance for scaling projects up to serve larger populations,” says Adams, who helped the Petion-Ville club organize the event.

RI President Wilfrid J. Wilkinson, who selected water as an emphasis this year, is scheduled to talk about the importance of clean water. Other guest speakers include Haitian Prime Minister Jacques-Édouard Alexis, and Ron Denham, a member of the Rotary Club of Toronto Eglinton, Canada, who chairs the Rotarian Action Group for Water and Sanitation.

“Rotarians have an opportunity to make massive progress in reducing child mortality on the planet doing it the way Rotarians in the private sector know best – club-by-club, and district-by-district,” Adams says.

In addition to dedicated Rotarians, conference organizers expect to attract international water specialists.
