Board acts on new member reporting

At its October/November meeting, the RI Board agreed to establish a timeline for clubs to report their new members. The Board made this change to facilitate the 2007 Council on Legislation’s action to change to a monthly collection cycle for prorated RI membership dues.

Under the new system, every Rotarian pays for each full month of club membership. For example, a new member who joins the club on the 1st of the month pays dues beginning with that month, but a member who joins on the 3rd pays dues beginning with the next month. New members must be reported within six months of joining their Rotary club.

In other action, the Board voted to

  • Adopt a new RI privacy statement that assures transparency in how RI collects, retains, and uses Rotarians’ personal information.
  • Discontinue RI’s membership zone coordinator position and increase the number of regional RI membership coordinators, effective 1 July 2008.
  • Request financial statements of revenues and expenditures from any unofficial Rotary program, group, or entity using “Rotary” in its name.
  • Affirm The Rotary Foundation Trustees' decision to require the signatures of both the district governor and district Rotary Foundation committee chair for use of the District Designated Fund.

Discontinuing the Zone coordinators and increasing Regional coordiantors is welcome, Further While cosing the rotarians it is better to assign this responsiblity to those who have done better job. For instance I am proud to inform that I have statred 12 new clubs and increased membership by more than 800 members in 2000-01 in 3180 as District Governor. I was one of the 50 top governors to receive World Membership challenge award in 2000-01 But sofar I have not been given any assignment.
