Past Rotary International Director Hans J. Müller-Rech, of Augsburg, Germany, died on 29 August. Funeral services were held on 11 September.

A Rotarian since 1978, Müller-Rech was a member of the Rotary Club of Augsburg and served as RI director in 1997-98 and RI treasurer in 1998-99. His service to Rotary International began in 1986-87, when he was governor of District 1840.

Müller-Rech was chair of Valmex Photographische Produkte GmbH and an independent management consultant in the field of medical technology. He was a member of the German and Bavarian Radiology Associations and the Export Club Bavaria.

He was the cofounder of Rotary Deutschland Gemeindiest, a subordinate foundation associated with The Rotary Foundation. He also served on the advisory board of Der Rotarier, the German-language Rotary regional magazine.

Müller-Rech was a Rotary Foundation Benefactor and a recipient of the Foundation’s Citation for Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service Award.
