House of Friendship

Los Angeles is famous for its bustling network of freeways and palm-tree-lined streets. During the convention, you can explore several more in the House of Friendship, located in the Los Angeles Convention Center. Enter through Main Street to Rotary Town Center Square. From there, walk down the expansive Rotary International Highway and Paul Harris Boulevard to shop and sample food from many ethnic kitchens. Along these streets, ample seating areas allow you to rest and chat with fellow Rotarians.

A stroll along Fellowship Lane leads to many Global Networking Group booths. See how Rotarians are serving their community and having fun at the same time by viewing club and district projects and visiting Secretariat Services. Eleven Internet cafes and live performances on two stages will round out your convention experience in the entertainment capital of the world. Interested in performing? The Host Organization Committee is also planning a "Concert under the Stars" at the Hollywood Bowl and exciting area tours. Click here to learn more .

Booths

Why not share that special club or district project with 2008 RI Convention attendees? At the House of Friendship, thousands of Rotarians can visit your booth, learn about your project, and perhaps emulate it, and you can meet others with similar interests and concerns. Projects exhibited at the 2007 RI Convention ranged from desert windbreaks to solar-powered hearing aids to sepsis awareness efforts.

Reserving a booth is also a way for Global Networking Groups to reach out to fellow Rotarians and increase membership. Rotarian quilters and fiber artists, scuba divers, wine appreciators, and travel agents were just some of the Rotary Fellowship representatives at the Salt Lake City convention. Booths for Rotarian Action Groups focused on areas such as water and sanitation, land mines, and blood donation.

Download and return the Project Exhibition Application (PDF) and the Global Networking Groups Exhibition Application (PDF) by Thursday, 31 January 2008. Please remember that all exhibitors must be registered for the 2008 RI Convention. Booth space is allocated to eligible projects on a first-come, first-served basis. Unofficial affiliate events

Why not add to the fellowship of the 2008 RI Convention by planning your own event? Unofficial affiliate events during previous conventions have included district and zone receptions, intercountry committee dinners, Global Networking Group meetings, and regional events such as the Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland luncheon and the All-Africa, Desayuno Iberoamerican, and Great Northland breakfasts.

Read the unofficial affiliate event procedures (PDF) and decide whether your event should be held at a hotel (PDF) or the convention center (PDF). If you are requesting convention meeting space for a Global Networking Group (GNG), download this request form (PDF). Direct questions to Allison Galvin, small meetings specialist, at 847-866-3116 (phone) or uae@rotary.org .
