Ask the RI President

President Wilf Wilkinson answers your questions

Q:I know Rotarians can make up meetings while traveling, but can Rotaractors also make up club meetings while traveling or studying abroad?

Wilf Wilkinson

If Rotaractors are living abroad for an extended period of time, they can join another Rotaract club. Otherwise, Rotaractors can make up missed club meetings at other Rotaract clubs while traveling.

Absences should be made up either two weeks before or after the missed meeting.

Rotaractors also can make up missed meetings by attending a Rotary club meeting or attending and participating in a club service project, a club-sponsored community event, or a meeting authorized by the club’s board.

Attending Rotary club meetings and participating in Rotary club projects are terrific opportunities for both Rotaractors and Rotarians. Rotaractors get to visit clubs they might be interested in joining in the future, and Rotarians get to meet potential club members.

I feel privileged to have met many Rotaractors. I’ve found them to be caring and talented people whose enthusiasm helps me feel a renewed sense of appreciation for the opportunities Rotary provides to both club members and the community.

Any Rotary club would be lucky to have the energy and ideas these individuals bring with them. I encourage Rotarians to reach out to them and make Rotaractors feel welcome when they visit their clubs. Rotaractors – and others like them – are Rotary’s future.

President Wilkinson would like to hear your questions. Please e-mail him, and he will try to respond in an upcoming edition of Interactive.
