Resources to help celebrate Rotary's new year

On 1 July, Rotary's new year began, ushering in new leaders, a new RI theme, and new goals.

In 2008-09, RI welcomes its first president from Korea, Dong Kurn Lee. Rotarians already have shown enthusiastic support for Lee's theme, Make Dreams Real , which will focus on decreasing child mortality and building membership.

Here are a few resources on RI's Web site to help you start the new Rotary year.

As our sincere response to the call of R. I. Pres. D.K. Lee for Rotarians to assist in the efforts to reduce child mortality, the Rotary Club of Loyola Heights, RI D-3780, is therefore currently planning to refurbish the Human Milk Bank at the Philippine Children's Medical Center, where in its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a number of patients continue to suffer from their ailments, aggravated by the unavailability of a steady supply of breast milk. We hope to be able to provide some of the equipment needed in sourcing, freezing and pasteurizing breast milk. Rotarians from our club, together with our spouses, children and friends will also assist in disseminating information about the value of breast milk and initiate a donation program for the Human Milk Bank. In these ways, we foresee a lower incidence of loss of the lives of children, giving them what may very well be their only chance to survive and, in the future, to have dreams of their own!
