Rotary Canada -- January 2012
When Arch C. Klumph proposed an endowment “for the purpose of doing good in the world,” he likely did not envision the scope of commitment The Rotary Foundation has today. Certainly he did not know that a society of donors who have made individual contributions to our Foundation of at least US$250,000 would bear his name.
In July, Canadian and Past RI President Wilf Wilkinson will become chair of the Foundation Board of Trustees. His leadership offers a unique opportunity to celebrate the generous gifts of Canadian Rotarians who have qualified for membership in the Arch C. Klumph Society. This year, a task force of leaders from zones 24 and 25 invite you to consider joining this special group of donors, with nearly 350 members worldwide, 10 of whom are Canadian. The task force members – Wilkinson, Past RI Vice President Monty Audenart, RI Director-elect Bryn Styles, Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinators Bernie Carrière and Joan Firkins, Past District Governors Linda Bradley and Chris Offer, and Major Gifts Officer Carolyn Seabrook-Ferguson – will work with Rotarians and others who might make this significant contribution and further Klumph’s vision.
Perhaps you know of someone who is committed to the goals of Rotary and is in a position to contribute $250,000 to support those goals. You might even be that person. If you recently sold a business or received a cash infusion, consider discussing a donation and the implications for tax planning. I urge you to make a significant contribution and to celebrate the generosity of all Canadian Rotarians.
